Custom Wood Products is growing! We have an opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships and is committed to continuous improvement, quality and customer satisfaction.
Execute best practice strategies and processes related to purchasing, expediting, and supplier quality activities.
Participate in contract negotiations with suppliers, contractors and partners.
Proactively drive the continual search for identifying and implementing opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, tracking progress towards these objectives and refining these processes to deliver optimal results for the company.
Engage with cross-functional teams to evaluate existing suppliers based on performance and risk; evaluate new suppliers for capability and business fit; establish criteria for suppliers and develop a vendor scorecard system.
Identify opportunities in freight with a focus to improve delivery performance and reduce costs.
Occasional overnight travel and/or day travel to customer or vendor sites required.
Any other duties as requested.
5+ years experience with vendor management and 5+ years work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate excel) and working with ERP or MRP systems.
